Kancamagus Highway Rules: Dogs, Alcohol and Campfires

There are some rules to keep in mind during your visit to the Kancamagus Highway in New Hampshire. Following the rules stated at the parking areas will help protect you, your family, the forest and the wildlife. Please check the current rules and regulations for the Kancamagus with the White Mountain National Forest.

Are Dogs Allowed on the Kancamagus Highway?

Dogs are allowed on the Kancamagus Highway but they must be leashed at all times.

Alcohol

Alcohol is not allowed on the Kancamagus Highway or in any of the parks. Alcohol is allowed in the camping areas.

Campfires

Campfires are not allowed within 1/4 mile of the Kancamagus Highway or trail heads. Due to the fragile forest, firewood must be from local sources only.
