You can drive the entire length of the Kancamagus Scenic Byway in under an hour without stopping. If you want to see as much of the scenic areas, waterfalls, and maybe get in a hike be sure to factor that in. You could basically spend the entire day on the Kancamagus Highway very easily.
When factoring how long it takes to drive the Kancamagus you will want to consider things like what you plan on doing while you’re there. You can pack a lunch and have a picnic in one of the scenic stops, visit a waterfall like Sabbaday Falls which you can add on about 1.5 hours with the short hike and viewing. You could also catch a quick glimpse of Rocky Gorge, which is just a short walk from the parking area.
So the time is takes to drive the Kancamagus will mostly depend on what you’re planning for stops along the way. In general, you should plan 2-3 hours for most common stops and driving time.
The Kancamagus is 34.5 miles long. There are no businesses, including gas stations on this stretch of road so be sure to plan your trip accordingly.

If you’re asking “how long,” don’t even go lol! It can be done in about an hour, but if you want to ENJOY it the way it was meant to be enjoyed, better plan on a day! Did I mention it is FREE?? There’s no better entertainment in my humble opinion anywhere in the world than the Kanc!
Did you also do the Mt. Washington Auto Road. Wondering if it is worth making time for both when only being in town 2 days.
